Drugstore Favorites

Hello and welcome to this week’s post.  I hope you’re all doing well and recovering from your Super Bowl festivities.

Today I’m going to go through some of my favorite drugstore makeup products.  When I was looking through my makeup drawer, I noticed how little drugstore stuff I actually own, which was a little disheartening, especially since I already planned on doing this post.  But what I also noticed is that the products I do have, I use almost every single time I do my makeup and that speaks volumes to the amount of love I have for these products.  I’m a  creature of habit, and when I find something I like, I really stick with it- and these makeup items are no exception.

Let’s get started.

foundation (1 of 1)Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation: $9.98

I used to love the original version of this foundation before they discontinued it and I never thought I’d find a replacement.  And then they brought it back and the heavens and the earth rejoiced. This stuff provides amazing full coverage and lasts incredibly well on my combination skin.  I don’t have any problems with it clinging to dry patches or caking up too badly around my nose area, and it doesn’t oxidize.

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer: $8.97

This foundation is great for the summer, hence why the color is so dark.  It’s definitely heavier than the Maybelline SuperStay and does cling to dry patches, but it works well when my skin is oilier (which always happens in the warmer months). My only gripe with this foundation is the undertones are pretty tricky and the color selection isn’t the greatest, so if you can, try to swatch it before you buy it. This foundation does oxidize, so make sure to go a bit lighter as well.

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless approx. $5.99

This is my everyday foundation.  I love this stuff more than any other foundation I own. It provides a medium coverage, provides a natural finish and it’s so lightweight . It keeps my oil at bay and it’s super inexpensive.  I can’t say enough good things about this foundation.

concealer (1 of 1)All of the products I’ve listed below I use as under eye concealers.

Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer: $6.99

This concealer is lightweight and provides just enough under eye coverage.  It layers well and sets well and last s fora decent amount of time.  I do notice fading towards the end of the day but it’s a great everyday concealer that’s easy to touch up if needed.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer: $7.94

This stuff goes pretty much hand in hand with the Fit Me! concealer but it definitely does require setting with a powder.  I love the tones that this concealer provides (in every shade they offer) and I sometimes wear this alone without foundation to give my natural skin a little boost on ‘no makeup’ days.

L.A Girl HD Pro Conceal: $2.99

This concealer is the closest match to my all time favorite MAC Pro Long Wear concealer.  It provides amazing coverage and is lightweight and it’s so affordable. Be careful when using this stuff- a little goes a long way. And make sure you squeeze the tube (with the lid tightly sealed) to mix the product together as it is prone to separation.

Beauty Tools

rt (1 of 1)Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge $4.88

I’ll say it- I like this more than the original Beauty Blender.  It’s a bit more firm, but I find that the flat edge distributes foundation quicker and seems to absorb less product.  And it’s way cheaper.

Lip Products

lips (1 of 1)Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss: $10.00

I love lip plumping glosses and this one is no exception.  It provides a strong tingle sensation and visibly plumps my lips while providing a beautiful wash of color.  I also love the Soap & Glory Pillow Plump lipgloss.  Same concept, different tube and it’s not as sticky. Also, I don’t know the name of mine because the sticker fell off the bottom a long time ago… oops!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 370 Jennifer’s Nude: $10.11 (on Amazon)

I’m not totally sure if you can still buy this in stores, but if you see it, make sure you take a look.  It’s a sheer cream lipstick that gives a hint of nude pink to the lips.  I’m not a person who likes to wear full blown color on my lips (unless it’s a dark shade) and this is the perfect color to apply throughout the day- no mirror needed. It goes with every eye/makeup look and is one of my all time favorite lipsticks.

Blush and Bronzer

blush (1 of 1)Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose: $6.19

I normally hate blush but this one somehow managed to sneak it’s way into my favorites.  The color is a gorgeous dusty rose the provides a hint of matte color.  I love it because I can wear it super sheer or build it up if I’m feeling a little more 1980s.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer (clever color name…): $14.99

This smells like vacation.  It smells like coconut and sun screen and I can’t get enough.  It gives a sheer but buildable sheen to the skin and looks amazing as a blush/ bronzer topper.  I like to use my everyday bronzer and then layer this on top in place of a highlighter to give my skin a healthy glow.

eyes (1 of 1)L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara: $8.99

I wrote about this is one of my last blog posts but I love this mascara for everyday wear.  It’s a close comparable to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, but at a fraction of the cost.  It’s buildable and provides a voluminous and separated (in the best way) look to your lashes, highlighting every single lash.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner: $9.99

I have used this eyeliner for years and I won’t stop until they discontinue it.  It’s the best gel eyeliner I’ve ever used and it’s inexpensive.  It provides the darkest black pigmentation and a matte finish.  I don’t use the brush it comes, rather, I use and fine eyeliner brush to create a wing.

eyebrow (1 of 1)L’Oreal Brow Stylish Definer: $8.99

I love the Anastasia Brow Wiz but this has replaced it in my makeup routine.  Not only is it half the cost, but it’s pretty much the exact same thing.  The pencil is super fine for precision and I can create effortless hair like strokes through my brows. And the spool on the end is amazing- super highly packed  bristles that make for easy product distribution.

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed this week’s post and found a few things that might interest you.  If you have any recommendations for me, please leave them in a comment here or on Instagram.  Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you in the next post.
